First impressions of LOST

JACK- first impressions
-My first thought when I saw Jack was that he was a business man, however as the episode went on it became obvious that he was a doctor. This was because he went around helping people with medical skills a business man would not have.
- He was probably in his late 30's, or around about.
- He seemed to be a natural leader and confident about being in charge. He helped people, and when he needed to help someone else, enlisted other peoples help. He took charge of going to find the transceiver.
- He put other people first as he resuced and helped the people by the plane crash before going to sort out his own wounds.
- And seemed to be rather brave, and calm, about the whole plane crash scenario. I got this impression as he did not panic when he saw the plane crash, but got straight in and started helping.

Re evaluation of flyer

Line

Lines are used effectively in this poster, as decoration lines that lead and attract the eye to the main image (the text 'juice'). The lines vary in width, and as most of them have a diagonal direction give the feeling of movement and vitality. This complements the poster and image as it is advertising smoothies, which would give you energy.


Colour

The colour scheme in this poster is bright, bold colours. These vibrant colours are attractive to the eye, and draw attention to the main parts of the poster which are coloured most brightly (text 'juice', picture of smoothie, titles). The bold pink matches the letter 'U' in the main text 'juice' with the picture of the smoothie. The colour gives a fresh feel, that makes you thirsty for the smoothie. It is a modern colour scheme that will attract younger members.


Typography

The main image in this flyer is the text 'juice'. The font of the text is rounded, modern which matches the general mood of the poster. It is an easy to read font, and is a in 3D. This makes the text a lot more dominant and the glyphs are arranged as if they are humans standing in a line. They overlap slightly, but not enough to make it hard to read.


Rule of Thirds

The rule of thirds doesn't really apply to this poster. However the smoothie picture is in the center top of the picture if you divided it into a grid.

How do lines help in directing the eye?

• What effects can the use of lines in design create?
Some effects that lines create:


Horizontal lines create a calm and peaceful mood.

Vertical lines give strong, uplifting and inspiring mood and hint at potential movement.

Diagonal lines give a very lively mood and give a strong feeling of movement.


Lines can be used as contours to define edges and give a definite outline.
They can also be used to separate areas of a design, creating the rule of thirds.
The other use for lines in design is to adorn or embellish, designs such as this.


Lines can:

• Create movement
• Provide texture
• Convey a mood or emotion
• Define shapes
• Provide emphasis
• Provide a framework
• Organize, connect, separate
• Organize information.
• Highlight or stress words.
• Connect pieces of information.
• Outline a photo or set it off from other elements.
• Create a grid. (A grid is the underlying structure of a page.)
• Create a chart or graph.
• Create a pattern or rhythm by drawing many lines.
• Direct the reader's eye or create a sense of motion. (Create a sense of action by using a diagonal line.)
• Suggest an emotion

Flyer evaluation

Evaluation:
I chose this flyer as it stands out to me. The colours of this poster are bright and go well together. The 5 different funky colours are modern and match with the modern 3D look of the letters.
